A first step: the new Waldorf kindergarten in Zimbabwe

In 2012, a new Waldorf kindergarten was opened in Zimbabwe. With the help of the Friends of Waldorf Education a German doctor had sent three kindergarten teachers for an internship in South Africa already in 2010/11. At home, they work in kindergartens belonging to the Kufunda Village initiative, located on a private farm on the outskirts of the capital. The surprise came in early 2011, when a white Zimbabwean woman, mother of two young children, returned from Cape Town and was very committed to build a Waldorf school in Harare. In Cape Town she had met another Waldorf kindergarten teacher, also from Zimbabwe, who was ready to take the first steps with her. Thus, opening Grade 1 of a future school might be possible as early as next school year!
