Parents and teachers looking for educational alternatives in China usually first find the educational theory of Maria Montessori. After a while, however, and after further search, they hear about Waldorf education. This also happened to a few teachers in Hancheng, a small town in the Shanxi province, who got to know Waldorf education after they intensely studied Montessori education. As a result they founded a small Waldorf school.

The school is located on an abandoned school property and includes grades one through six. The rural province in China is not comparable with the city: the resources are scarce, the equipment is very modest and heating does not exist. But also in Shanxi it is cold during winter and the teachers and children long for a warm classroom...maybe this is a wish that we can fulfill?
